Attorney Stephen Bresset has practiced
commercial and bankruptcy law and litigation
throughout Pennsylvania and the region over the
past thirty years. During that time he has
represented substantial business interest as
well as individuals in their business conflicts.
His litigation experience of more than 150 jury
trials and over 2,000 non-jury trials
demonstrates that your matter will be handled by
an experienced and capable litigation attorney.
During his time in practice he has
represented debtors in more than 50 Chapter 11
proceedings in Pennsylvania as well as
creditors, creditor committees and trustees at
virtually every level of bankruptcy proceedings
and debtors in more than 1,500 Chapter 7
proceedings.
Attorney Bresset is a native of Northeastern
Pennsylvania and was educated in the Honesdale
area public schools. He graduated with academic
honors from Temple University where he
participated in inter-collegiate athletics in
both football and baseball. Upon graduation he
attended and graduated with honors from Widener
University School of Law. (Formerly Delaware Law
School)
During the first twelve years of practice, he
served as an assistant and later First Assistant
District Attorney for Wayne County. During that
time he was responsible for handling a myriad
criminal matters which ranged from homicide
trials to economic crime investigations and
other white collar criminal activities. This
exposure and experience has been of considerable
benefit in the development of litigation skills
and an in-depth knowledge of business
practices. This experience has also been of
benefit in the handling of complex commercial
and environmental litigation.
Attorney Bresset is admitted to the State
Courts of Pennsylvania, the three United States
District Courts in Pennsylvania as well as the
three bankruptcy courts, the Third Circuit
Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax
Court. He has always been an active
member of his community and the bar associations
of which he is a member. He has participated as
a volunteer in youth sports including little
league baseball, softball, and is a co-founder
of the Honesdale Soccer Club where he continues
to serve as a referee and coach.
Mr. Bresset has served as an office holder in
the Wayne County Bar Association as well as a
committee chair in both associations and the
Pennsylvania Bar Association. He has also been a
featured speaker at numerous seminars throughout
Pennsylvania in litigation, commercial law and
bankruptcy law topics.
